Building Applications with Eclipse RCP and Starting a Micro-ISV Business

ChapterLab is a specialized word processing app aimed at academics and technical writers. The first public beta release is scheduled to go live by the end of March.

In this presentation, after a quick peek at the ChapterLab app, we’ll take a look at the technical side of building a desktop app for Mac and Windows using Eclipse RCP, or a web app using Eclipse RAP.

We’ll also discover all of the work involved in turning an app into a commercial business — market research, promotion, branding, website development, payment processing, licensing, protecting intellectual property, startup funding, and designing a long-term business strategy.

We’ll have plenty of opportunities for questions and discussion.

Presenter:
Kevin Matz is the founder of Winchelsea Systems Ltd. and an active VIJUG member.
Who:
All VIJUG members and anybody else interested are welcome to attend. If you intend to come please send an email, register with the Facebook event or just drop by.

We hope to meet you there.
