March JUG

I haven’t received any offers to host the JUG so we’ll be having the March VIJUG meeting at the KIXEYE offices in Bastion Square because my employer is benevolent and kind and close to some very good pubs.
With any luck we’ll have some lightning talks and an ask-your-expert-peers session.
Please ping us if you have a lightning talk you can present.
Afterwards we shall retire to one of the many fine taverns in the area and partake of an ale.

(3rd Floor, ignore the signage for the 4th floor, it’s still being renovated)

Come along to the January VIJUG meeting at the new KIXEYE offices in Bastion Square!
We will include a short speil from Clayton Stark (GM) about what it is KIXEYE is doing here in sunny Victoria.
We’ll have some lightning talks and an ask-your-expert-peers session where we can just shoot the breeze about whatever engineering problem is currently on our minds.
Please ping us if you have a lightning talk you can present.
And afterwards we can swing by the Garricks for a beer.

EclipseCon 2013 in Boston

EclipseCon is coming to Boston from March 25-28, 2013. The Eclipse Foundation is offering VIJUG members an extra $100 off the regular registration price! The discount code is *VIJUG*. If you register before December 31, the price for the 4 day conference is $700. I have a feeling that some of us might end up going 😉

EclipseCon is a great opportunity to learn about the latest Eclipse technologies. This year the conference will focus on Eclipse 4, domain specific languages, OSGi, RCP development, mobile development and machine-to machine development. In addition, ALM Connect, co-located with EclipseCon, will cover the tools and methodologies the span the entire software development lifecycle. A complete agenda will be available in December.

It is time to start using a repository manager – December 2012

Declarative and automatic transitive dependency management have been around since Apache Maven started ten years ago. Pretty much every build system supports it and by default most of them download from the Central Repository. Everybody complains their tool “downloading the internet” and slow build times. Yet repository managers like Sonatype Nexus have been around for years and can fix these and many other problems. Learn how you can enjoy faster builds, better cooperation among your teams, secured downloads from the Central Repository and a lot more about Component Lifecycle Management CLM and Repository Driven Development RDD in this VIJUG meeting.
